Supernova Festival was the Israeli edition of Universo Paralello, a psytrance festival started 23 years prior in Bahia, Brazil. Supernova was located in the western Negev Desert, near Kibbutz Re'im, a site the organizers switched to only two days before the event after the original location fell through.

The event took inspiration from Burning Man ethos and was founded on the values of the global trance movement – inclusion, togetherness, peace and love. Dance was a way for us to create a container for those values through personal expression and deep relationships.

Obviously our lives – and many of your lives, and the world took an unexpected turn. We often reflect on the festival’s first day when our imagination became reality and Supernova created a rainbow bridge transporting 3,500 attendees from the conventions of the default world to a halcyon of desert peace and inclusion. No festival participant should face the horrors that occurred that day and we want to honor the 405 lives lost at that festival and two festivals nearby while healing ourselves.

Although our work was interrupted, we are now given a second chance. We ask your help on this beautiful journey to come with us in continuing the work begun in the Negev on October 6th, now at Burning Man 2024: WE WILL DANCE AGAIN!

Supernova Festival attendees danced on October 7th, 2023. This installation memorializes the 405 lives lost too soon, with fabricated cut-out angels hanging from the structure, each bearing a name. A metal arch reading "We Will Dance Again'' welcomes participants at the perimeter, offering hope and standing in resilience.

Internally and externally lit at night, Nova Heaven casts an ethereal glow, creating a serene space for reflection and healing in the quiet deep playa. Participants can walk among the angels, read the names, and find solace under the shaded respite.

The installation evokes emotions of connection, healing, tribute, honor, joy, and resilience, embodying the values of "Friendship, Love, and Freedom”; the theme of the original Supernova Festival. It serves as a cathartic experience, honoring those Supernova participants, reminding us of the human spirit's triumph even in the darkest times.
